Lauretta Cantrell Obituary

On Wednesday morning, January 8, 2020, Lauretta Kay "Tuffy" Cantrell, wife, mother, daughter and sister, passed away at the age of 76.  Lauretta Kay will be forever remembered by her husband and best friend, Marvin Lee Cantrell III, and their children, Susan, Pat, Mike, Teresa, Tim and Ginger.  Lauretta Kay is preceded in death by her parents Armal and Clara McGhee and her granddaughter, Lauren Lanai Cantrell.  Lauretta Kay will be held in the hearts of her surviving family members, sister Ruthie Lee Rackleff, numerous nieces, nephews, 9 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, extended family and countless dear friends.  A 42-year resident/rancher of South Poe Valley, Klamath Falls, Kay had a loving, peaceful and humble spirit, the best grandma one could ever ask for.

Lauretta Kay was born on April 7, 1943 in Santa Ana, California.  As a young girl, Kay enjoyed singing, dancing for the Santa Ana Junior Promenade, winning many ribbons, riding horses and had a passion for creativity.  She loved long rides in the countryside, gardening, crafting and reading.  She adored her numerous pets, and was especially fond of her certified service companion dog "Annie" who also precedes her in death.  Kay was devoted to her country, home, family, ranch life and her church.  Kay was a member of the St. Francis Cabrini Altar Society, and more recently attended St. Pius Church.  Kay was a member of the Our Ladies Rosary Makers and spent many hours creating rosaries for missionaries.  Kay will be remembered for her creative hands and the love of teaching.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Pius X Roman Catholic Church on Wednesday January 15, 2020 at 11:00 AM. Recitation of the Holy Rosary will precede the mass at 10:30 AM. Interment will be held at Mt. Calvary Catholic Cemetery. A potluck reception will follow the burial at the Poe Valley Community Hall. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Lauren Cantrell Memorial Scholarship Fund, at First Community Credit Union (Account 2105400). 3737 Shasta Way, Klamath Falls, OR 97603.
