Merline Kurth Obituary

Merline passed away peacefully September 9, 2019.   Merline was born March 16, 1924 in Wheaton, MN to Carl and Agnes Anderson.  She was one of 6 children. In high school she played the trumpet and sang in a Quartet. After high school, went on to become a Beautician.  In 1944, she boarded a train to move west, and married Edwin Kurth in Walla Walla, WA on August 26, 1944.  Ed and Merline ended up in Klamath Falls, which became their life long home.  Merline soon had Jim and Sherry that started her career as the best Mom in the world.  She loved cooking, sewing, and taking care of her family. She briefly worked in the school kitchen, when they actually cooked a full lunch for the children.  She went on to have two more children, Pam and Kevin.  She raised her family, sewed all their school clothes, made sure there was always good food on the table, and always had a special treat (home made) waiting for them after school.  She was quick to laugh, sing, and had the best hugs on earth!   After her children were raised, Ed and Merline started a larger home over looking Lake Euwana.  With their children by their side, they built their home together with much love that Mom was so proud of.  The new home was the gathering place of all holidays, her favorite being Christmas Eve.  Dressed as Mrs. Clause, presents flowing from the Christmas Tree, and much delicious food,  she celebrated her love for her family.  Merline was a member of Klamath Lutheran Church and loved her church family.  She helped make lefsa every Christmas,  made lap blankets, helped in the kitchen, helped with the alter, and sewed many things for the Church Alter.  Member of Reames Golf and Country Club, she enjoyed golfing stating that was the best time in her life.  She volunteered with the Reames Women and enjoyed all the friends she made there.  Merline was an accomplished seamstress making all her children clothes, window shopping and going straight home to make what she liked.  She gathered fabric every chance she got and could always use a piece or two to make what she envisioned.  Her kids were always dressed well,  groomed well, and above all, polite.  Her Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren have many fun stories about her and her many thoughtful things she made them.   Merline is survived by her children, Jim Kurth and Jan Krause, Sherry and Ron Jackson, Pam and Chuck Johnson.   Grandchildren, Doug and Lisa Jackson, Danny and Suzie Jackson, Jennifer and James Bruce, Joe and Robin Kurth, Bonnie and Mike Bryson, and Matt Som.  Great Grandchildren, Spencer, Taite, and Ryder Jackson, Carson Jackson, Brennan and Alyssa Sparks,  Josie and Jett Bruce, Cameron and Mallory Kurth, Jessica, Kyle and Conor Bryson.  She also survived by the last sibling, Janice Larson from Windom, MN.  She was preceded in death by her Husband, Ed of 60 years and her son Kevin Kurth. Memorial services will be held at Klamath Lutheran Church on Saturday September 14, 2019 at 3:00 PM.  Those wishing to do so may send memorial contributions to Klamath Lutheran Church.
