Anna Belle Fleming was a life-long resident of Butte Valley, California. She was born September 15, 1924 at Hillside Hospital in Klamath Falls, Oregon, and died April 13, 2021 at Sky Lakes Hospital in Klamath Falls, Oregon. She was buried next to her beloved husband Jack at Picard Cemetery on April 20, 2021.
Anna Belle was the oldest child of George Edward Skeen and Susie Belle Briggs Skeen. Her siblings included 7 sisters and 1 brother. Anna Belle is an honored elder of The Klamath Tribe.
Anna Belle was a homemaker and mother of 5 children. She was married to Jack Fleming for 54 years until his death on January 1, 2000. Anna Belle and Jack were married in 1945 in the chapel at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Klamath Falls, Oregon.
Anna Belle enjoyed gardening, reading, and spending time with her family. She was an active member of the Our Lady Of Good Counsel Catholic Church and many organizations involving her children. In addition, Anna Belle was always available to answer questions about the history and people of Butte Valley.
Survivors include her sons and daughters-in-laws: Dennis and Dorothy Fleming (Klamath Falls, OR), Fred and Paulette Fleming (Oroville, CA), Chuck and Judy Fleming (Dorris, CA). Her daughter and son-in-law: Joanna and Reg Spannaus (Florence, MT), and her daughter: Teresa Fleming (Dorris, CA).
Anna Belle is also survived by her sisters: Wilma Manual (Wasilla, AK), Mary McCarthy (Redmond, OR), and Sharon Meston (Redmond, OR), and by 7 grandchildren, and 7 great-grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be made to Butte Valley Library, Dorris Volunteer Fire Department, Butte Valley Ambulance, or Butte Valley Museum & Historical Society.
