Artie Lynn Boxler passed away peacefully, with her daughters at her side, on July 11, 2023, in Bly, Oregon. She was born February 17, 1945, in DeQueen, Arkansas, to A.B. Pace and Della Mae (Gysin) Pace.
Artie's primary job was as a homemaker, but she also spent 25 years with the US Forest Service. In addition, she was a teacher's aide.
In 1964, Artie married Donald Stripe, a marriage which ended in divorce in 1989. She ultimately remarried in 2012.
Artie was a devoted mother, who helped out her girls with their 4-H projects, both as a mom and as a 4-H leader! Whether they were raising sheep, steers, or horses, she threw her support and efforts behind her daughters. Her own hobbies included yard work, shopping, and working with glass at the Art Center. She also loved painting her house!
Artie's love and excitement for family extended to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was fondly known as "Nana", and is said by her daughters to be "...a very kind person who always had a smile for everyone."
Artie is survived by daughters Ronda Panos of Dublin, Texas; Janet Melsness and husband Hank, of Bly Oregon; sister Adele Mitchell and husband Paul of Alturas, California; brother Jake Gysin and wife Ronda of Alturas, California; brother Warner Gysin and wife Jenny of Walnut Creek, California; grandchildren Brent Panos and wife Maria, Tyrail Panos and wife Sarah, and Saige Otley and husband Joel; great-grandchildren Lane, Flint, and Hudsyn Panos, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Artie was preceded in death by her parents, by Ronda's husband James Panos, and by sister, Hydie Varner.
A graveside service will take place Tuesday, July 25, 2023, at 11:00AM at the Alturas Cemetery, Alturas, California.
A potluck reception will take place following the graveside service, at the Sacred Heart Church Parrish hall. Meat will be provided.
