Billie Lorraine Balsiger, a resident of Klamath Falls, died June 20, 2022. She was born in Albany, OR, on July 15, 1926, to William Fitzpatrick and Laura Lockey.
In 1948, Billie married E.E. Balsiger in Albany. Thereafter, she began a lifelong career as a homemaker, and volunteer. She started the Klamath Work Activity Center, focusing on mentally disabled people. Billie was eventually appointed by the Governor of Oregon as President of the State Board of Mental Health. She was also a member of the PEO. In her spare time, she enjoyed needlepoint and quilting.
Billie is survived by her sons William Balsiger of Klamath Falls and Daniel Balsiger of Grants Pass, OR; granddaughters Jennifer Balsiger and Kathy Robinson, both of Grants Pass; six great grandchildren; nephew Michael Collie of Carson City, NV; and fur babies Mod and Tilly.
She was preceded in death by her husband E.E. Balsiger, John M. Balsiger; sisters Karen Collile and Marion Thomas. A Memorial Services will be held at 1:00 pm on July 23, 2022 at O’Hair-Wards Funeral Chapel.
