Calvin Edger Homer, 92, passed away on March 4th, 2023, at Asante Rogue Regional Hospital.   A celebration of Calvin’s life will be held at 1:00 pm on March 19, 2023, at Zion Lutheran Church. Interment services will be held at 12 noon on March 23, at Eternal Hills Memorial Park.

Calvin was born on Oct. 1, 1930, in Lexington, Oklahoma, to Calvin Ersery Homer & Oneta Cozine Coffman. When he was five years old, Calvin moved from Lexington, OK to Klamath Falls, OR, where he would live the rest of his life.

On March 8, 1953, Calvin married Audrey Jeannine Brattz at Zion Lutheran Church.

Calvin enlisted in the US Navy on Oct. 11, 1950. He was discharged on July 13, 1954. After his time in the Service, he started work at the post office. He became Postmaster for both Bonanza and Midland, OR.

Calvin was a faithful member of Zion Lutheran Church, where he served as an Elder alongside many others. He really enjoyed doing it.

Calvin’s pride and joy was his family. He also enjoyed spending time in Reno, NV with his wife Audrey. He also loved elk hunting with his buddies, dancing with Audrey, and visiting the coast with his family. In recent years he really enjoyed dinners at his son Kevin’s house; as well as keeping both Kevin and his grandson Eric out of trouble.

Calvin, a husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, cousin, and uncle, will be greatly missed.

Calvin is survived by his son Kevin Homer; sister Doris Wilson; grandchildren Eric Homer, Daniel White, Christina Wilkerson, Jessie White, Tony Davis; great grandchildren Bailey Phelps, Tyler Wilkerson, Jillian Wilkerson, Drake Phillips, Eden Phillips, Tayden Davis; nieces and nephews Sherry Brown, Craig Brown, Robert Lynn, Randy Bryant, Susie Bryant Mike Martin, Dana Martin, Denis Gregory, Cindy Gregory, Autumn Brown, summer Brown, Cameron Brown, Dave Albey, Danny Albey, Christen Albey; cousins Sherry Homer, Oweta Homer, Denny Homer.

Calvin was preceded in death by his wife Audrey Homer; parents Calvin & Oneta Homer; mother-in-law Ruth Bratz; sister-in-law Elaine Whitehall; niece Ginger Albey, sister Barbra Bryant; sister and brother-in-law Margaret & Dwayne Gregory; grandson Derek Homer; granddaughter Candice Davis Homer; aunts and uncles William, Edmond, James, Edgar, Willis, Francis, Lillian, Nancy, Mitchael, Mary, Alma Homer, and many others.

Donations in Calvin’s memory may be made to Zion Lutheran Church, where he faithfully attended until he was unable; but his faith never faltered. Calvin is now with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, watching down on us, proud of the family he has started, and excited to see what is becomes.

Now a few words from his son Kevin:

Dad, even though I am 62 years old, I am having a hard time without you here. When Mom left us, we had each other for support and that itself was hard to adjust to. You have been there for me my whole life. Never once have you made me face something alone. You were right by my side through thick and thin. I will miss you so much. You always gave me hope. I am so lucky to have you for a father. You are the kindest, most loving person I’ve ever met; always honest even if it hurts. You loved me when I couldn’t love myself at times in my life. You showed me the meaning of 1 Corinthians 13 “Love is patient, love is kind. It does not wait.” I am so fortunate to have you and mom as my parents. I miss both of you with all of my heart, but you will both live on in my heart forever. I know in my heart you are in a better place. You are with mom, our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ; and I look forward to joining you whenever I am called home to you.

I love you. Your son Kevin.

Friends and family have shared their relationship to show their support.
