Lifelong Klamath Falls resident Cheryl Burnett, 77, passed away on February 1, 2023. Born in Indiana and raised in Klamath Falls, Cheryl was a Klamath Union High School graduate and attended Oregon Institute of Technology. After her 1st marriage to Delbert (Pete) Sasstedt in 1963, she was widowed and remarried in 1966 to Dave Burnett. In her early years, she was a member of the Sweet Adelines choir and later on was passionate about quilting and as a “blanketeer”, gave numerous volunteer hours to the Project Linus organization creating and donating quilts to children and families in need. She was a bus driver for the Klamath Falls school district for 28 years as well as an accountant for 12 years. She worked beside her husband Dave to run numerous successful businesses in Klamath Falls, including Citation Upholstery.
Cheryl was dearly loved by her family and is survived by her husband of 58 years, Dave Burnett; sons; Bruce Burnett, Brian Burnett, and Brad Burnett; daughters; Tammy Burnett and Tina Burnett as well as many beloved grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Everett Ball and Bettie Fredrickson-Ball and survived by her sister Carlolyn Shellhorn-Ball of Medford, OR. She was also loved and cherished by friends and her community. She will be greatly missed.
A Celebration of Life will be held later in May. Cheryl’s family would like to thank everyone for their thoughts and prayers during this difficult time. In lieu of flowers and in honor of Cheryl, donations can be made to your favorite animal shelter or animal cause.
