Craig passed away peacefully in the early morning hours of April 10, 2023, after a lengthy illness. Craig was born in Portland, Oregon to Richard and Natalie Herrig on October 26, 1956. Craig was an avid fisherman and also enjoyed mushroom picking. He attended school in Bend, Oregon. He joined the Coast Guard in 1975 and was stationed in Charleston, S.C. He was injured during active duty and after two years of service was discharged with a medical disability. He married Maureen Skeel in 1982 and they were blessed with a son, Joshua Kenneth and a daughter Jessica Lauren. Craig was preceded in death by his father Richard Gordon Herrig, step-father Kenneth Kay Coons, and Craig's son Joshua Kenneth Herrig. Craig was the grandfather of Skylar and Maevry Morton. Craig was a fabricator for sign companies, a ranch mechanic and lastly an employee of the City of Chiloquin during the spring and summer months, for several years. It was an outdoor position which he enjoyed very much.
Craig's family particularly wish to thank Sky Lakes Medical Center and their staff for the care they gave Craig during his hospitalization. We also want to thank the Veterans' Administration for their assistance.
A Memorial Service will be held April 28, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. at the Chiloquin Community Center with Pete Pate officiating. All friends and relatives are invited to attend to remember Craig and to share any memories.
May he be eternally at peace.
