Dalford John Reed

Dalford John Reed, Jr. passed away from Cancer September 18, 2020 at the Pelican Point Assisted Living Center. He was 81yrs old. John was born on November 18, 1938 in San Francisco, California to Dalford John Reed, Sr. and Verna Kettenberg Reed. When John was a year old his family moved to Klamath Falls, Oregon where his dad became an Oregon State Patrolman. The family moved to Merrill, Oregon when his father became the Sherriff. John attended Merrill High School where he was a 3-sport athlete and graduated in 1957. On August 7, 1957 John married Mary Anne Johnson. They were married for 58 years.

John’s career included many years in road construction; however, he was especially fond of his country western band, Country Thunder, where he played bass guitar for over 30 years.

John is preceded in death by his wife Mary, his parents and two brothers, James and David Reed. He is survived by his sister, Darlene Zlomke, his 7 children, Christopher Reed, Michael Reed, Patrick Reed, Teresa Colpitts, Donna Duncan, Tamara Bowden, and Karen Koger. They also had 22 Grand Children, 22 Great Grand Children, and 1 Great great grand Child.

Graveside services will be held at Merrill Cemetery on Saturday, October 10 at 2:00 pm.
