Diana Lyn Hadwick, age 73, passed away at her home in Dorris, CA on January 28, 2023 after battling Glioblastoma brain cancer for almost one year.
Diana was born on February 9, 1949 in Red Bluff, California to Donald and Thelma Clifford. For the first three years of her life, they lived in a railroad car near Dunsmuir, CA. Her father Don worked as a signal maintainer for Southern Pacific Railroad and her Mother Thelma cooked for the crew. Diana had many fond memories and stories of her childhood. She was the oldest of four and adored her siblings Donella, Jim and Dennis. Before starting elementary school, the family moved to Mt. Hebron and then to Dorris where she lived throughout her life.
Diana graduated from Butte Valley High School in 1967. Her senior year of high school she served in the Tulelake-Butte Valley Fair Royal Court. Diana was a natural caregiver, and she went on to do home daycare, work in the kitchen at Macdoel Elementary School and Butte Valley Schools and did in home health care for over 40 years.
Diana was the wife and best friend to Bart for 54 years. Diana met Bart in high school, and they started dating her junior year. He was drafted in the Vietnam War to Germany and she wrote him a letter every day. He returned with a ring and they were married in May of 1968. Together, they had three sons, Brad, Brent and Bryon and raised them in Butte Valley.
Diana’s entire world was her children and then her grandchildren. She was the neighborhood Mom and Grandma. She had a huge heart for community and served in the BVHS Boosters, Women’s Club, as a 4-H Leader, Cub Scout Leader and chaperoned and helped with Butte Valley FFA where she earned an honorary membership. She loved hosting holidays and family dinners, going to the grandkids games and events, working in her flower beds, baking and could always be found with a book in her hand or purse.
She will forever be remembered for her ability to love and care for anyone who knew her. Diana loved everyone around her completely and selflessly. She always made time for the people she loved and had a gift for making people feel special.
She is survived by her husband and best friend Bart; her children Brad Hadwick (Dena) of Klamath Falls, OR, Brent Hadwick of Klamath Falls, OR and Bryon Hadwick (Heather) of Alturas, CA. Her grandchildren Maranda (Austin), Kyle, Kambrea, Sam, Kendal, Zack and Jace and great granddaughter Braylynn. Her brothers James Clifford (Gloria) and Dennis Clifford (Ruth). Diana leaves behind many nieces and nephews and longtime friends who she considered family. She is joining her little sister Donella Worthington in heaven who passed away on November 1, 2022.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 4 pm on Monday, February 6th at the Butte Valley Community Center in Dorris, CA. Please join the family for services and dinner. In lieu of flowers donations can be made in her honor to Butte Valley FFA, PO BOX 709, Dorris, CA 96023.
