Glenda Hoyt Obituary

Glenda M Hoyt, longtime Malin, OR resident, passed away in Klamath Falls on March 23, 2023, at the age of 81. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday April 8, at Merrill Presbyterian Church. Interment will be at Malin Cemetery.

Glenda was born in Ada, OK, on April 29, 1941, to Clovis & Christina Story. The family moved to Merrill, OR in 1946, where she graduated from Merrill High School in 1959. She moved to Sacramento in 1960 and married Ron Day in 1961. Their marriage ended in 1964, and Glenda moved back to Merrill, where she found the love of her life, Barney Hoyt. The couple were married in 1970, and lived in Merrill until building a home on Stateline Rd and moved to Malin, OR in 1978.

She had a very long career in bookkeeping, working for Aerojet Corp in Sacramento, First National Bank Merrill Branch, Klamath Potato Distributors, Ezell Oil Company, and Malin Grain and Feed. In her spare time, she enjoyed any activities that included family gatherings, church events, friends, quilting, and crafts. She was known to be a wonderful baker and made the most delicious treats including cookies, caramel popcorn, and fudge. Glenda was always a supporter of her kids, grandkids, and great grandkids; traveling wherever, and whenever needed. (Always toting snacks and drinks for all to enjoy.) Her retirement found her and Barney enjoying camping and BBQing with friends in Paskenta, CA.

Glenda was a Deacon and Elder at Merrill Presbyterian Church, where she was also the pianist for 20 years. She was also a part of the SMART Reader program at Malin Elementary School. In her final years, she was the treasurer for the Resident Council at Crystal Terrace in Klamath Falls.

Glenda was a friend to all – always kind, considerate, and welcoming.

Survivors include daughters Rhonda (Bill) Heiney of Klamath Falls, Dana Hoyt of Phoenix, OR; granddaughter Brooke (Andrew) Smith of Klamath Falls; grandson Jared Heiney of Klamath Falls; great grandchildren Audrey and Luke Smith; brothers Ray (Deanna) Story of Chandler, AZ, Jerry (Judy) Story of Klamath Falls; nephews and nieces Mike (Sandy) Story of Chandler, AZ, Christy (Doug) Knolles of Chandler, AZ, Jeff (Danielle) Story of Merrill, OR, and Jim (Whitney) Story of Klamath Falls.
