James Carol Miller

1931-2019

“I read; I traveled; I became”
― Derek Walcott

James Carol Miller was 88 years young and passed on at 1:40 a.m. on October 29, 2019.   He was born in Dixon, California and was a resident of Klamath Falls, Oregon.

James career include being in the Navy for four years, then working for the Railroad, becoming a police officer in Grass Valley, and eventually becoming an investigator for the County of Sacramento.  His favorite job included being in law enforcement and an investigator.  While working as a criminal investigator for the County of Sacramento, James worked as part of the union and helped establish some of the benefits that the employees of the county receive today.  James retired from the county and started a business with his wife Eleanor Eaton, renting houses out.  They moved to Klamath Falls in 1999 to escape the air pollution in Sacramento.

His love of his life was Eleanor Eaton, they were married for thirty-four years.  Eleanor passed in 2010.  During their adventures they traveled around the world visiting many unique places.  Among his favorite places to visit was Fiji.

James hobbies included Cars, he often enjoyed rebuilding various cars such as Model A Ford, MG Midget, Austin Healey, and of course Mazda Miata’s.  One of his goals was to rebuild the Model A Ford with a special engine and transmission so that he could drive it in the steep hill competition.  Other hobbies that James enjoyed included collecting models of cars from the 1920’s and 1930’s and Wilson car manuals, reading, religion and politics.  Often scouring yard sales and antique stores in search of a car or books he didn’t have, or wanted to read again.  Sharing his opinion of politics to anyone who would listen, and asking questions on religion, and often causing strife with whomever was his current listener.

James is survived by his daughter Kim Gale of Klamath Falls, Oregon, daughter Laurie Wisler of Shelter Cove, California, son Mike Miller of Metaline Falls, Washington, and son Jeff Miller, Fair Oaks, California.  As well as, three step sons Gary Dayton of Maryland, Eric Dayton of Castro Valley, California, and Clifford Dayton of Yuma, Arizona. Granddaughters include:  Jessica Boyt, Nancy Kank, Shasta Miller, Angela Johnson and Stephanie Engelhardt.  Grandsons include:  David Miller, Daniel Miller, John Wisler, Charlie Wisler, Riley Miller, Chase Miller, and Tommy Engelhardt.
