Jessie Redfox Obituary

Our Mother, Jessie Pauline Coburn Redfox made it to heaven on September 30, 2023. Jessie was born on November 10, 1929, on the family ranch in Sprague River, Oregon to Frank and Pearl (Shadley) Coburn. Mom was Pit River and enrolled Klamath Native American. Mom was raised in Sprague River, Oregon amongst all her family and friends. Sprague River was near and dear to her heart, as was her best friend Mae Crume. Her favorite stories always included Mae. Mom raised 8 children and lost one baby at birth, which broke her heart every time she talked about it.

Mom was a very hard worker and always made sure all kids had their needs met to the best of her ability. We loved her and look back at how hard her life was, but she always tried, no matter what. Not only did she raise 8 kids, but she always helped raised other kids and provided for other kids who became near and dear to her heart. Mom retired from the Klamath Tribal Health where she dearly loved working. Mom owned her own restaurant: the Lobby Café and was the administrator at the same time for the original nursing home in Hardin, Montana. Mom always worked two to three jobs at a time when living in Hardin.

Mom had a really funny and great sense of humor, and we enjoyed listening to her stories and joking around. She also had the other side of her that was very, very stern, which led us to our successful lives. Her cooking will never be forgotten; we loved cooking with her, and she enjoyed showing us how to cook.

Mom was gifted with many grandchildren and great grandchildren and loved them all. Living children include Armand (Tibby) and Kathy Crispen; Warren and PJ Redfox; Fonda Redfox and Jay Lytle and Melanie and Charles Charette and Charles Case. Grandkids include Eldon (Angie) Jarvis; Francis Jean Minear; Kelly (Jason) Coates; Ian (Augusta) Redfox; Ryan (Anna) Redfox; Sierra (Randall) Not Afraid; Ty Case; Danielle (Joel Jackson) Case; Robby (Nikita) Redfox; Bear (Tera) Lei; Eleece (John) Lei-Hill; Taylissa Lytle; Taylen (Marselina) Lytle; Mariah (Scotty) Riddle; Trevor Redfox; Kara (Brittaney) Wegner; Erin, and Breanna Charette. Jess had 39 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Jess was preceded in death by daughters Marie Minear and Betty Case; Sons Leonard Crispen, Francis Crispen, and Irvin Redfox JR., Late husbands, Damen Crispen and Irvin Redfox, Sr., Grandson Frankie Crispen; her Mother and Father; brothers Joe and Jim Coburn, Budge, and Howard Roff; sisters June Riland, Ardith Roff, and Phyliss Sanderville.

We love you Mom and know you are up there with all your family, friends and loved ones and will always cherish the love you had for us.

Mom had a very large extended family who included; Coburns, Redfox’s, Shadleys, Barkleys, Smiths, Crispens, Redfox, Lei, Crumes, and Bensons. Sorry if we missed family members, we know her family was large.
