John Mull Obituary

John Allen Mull known to many as the Grizzly Mountain Man born 100 years too late, was born to Fred and Florence Mull on June 8, 1950, in Ontario, OR. He was a very active young man who spent his early years learning the life-long trade of Hunting and Fishing from his dad and mom, along with playing just about every sport the school had to offer, and that would continue throughout his high school years. As told to his family, he would be playing a baseball game, one-minute, and then run over to the track field to perform in those events. He loved sporting events and would continue following that passion in his later years in watching his children, and especially his grandsons with their competitive passions in the sports of Baseball and Swimming. On June 28, 1969, he married the love and debate partner of his life Linda Marie Cummings, and they spent almost 54 years together living, loving, working, hunting, camping, and raising a family which would be forever what he considered one of his greatest accomplishments. John ALWAYS put his family and spending time with them first, as his family was his WORLD.

John is survived by his Wife Linda Mull, Son Jason Mull, Daughter and Son-in-Law Nickole and Chris Barrington, Grandsons Brandon and Colby Barrington, Brother and Sister-in-Law Lennie and Bonnie Mull, Sister and Brother-in-Law Pam and Bill Moody, and Sister Sandra Allen. He is preceded in death by his Father and Mother, Fred and Florence Mull and Brother Larry Mull.

John spent 40 years of his life working and providing for his family by working for the Southern Pacific turned Union Pacific Railroad as a Bridge and Building Forman, of which he was proud to do and could always tell a scary, yet interesting story about. No one knew working on railroad bridges, hundreds of feet over the water and canyons would not be the most dangerous thing he would face in life. His MOST memorable events spanned from his marriage; to the birth of his son and following him through life; along with his daughter’s journey as she married and expanded the family with the addition of two grandsons that would become a HUGE part of his life’s journey in chasing them around in competitive Baseball with many District and State Championship Games; and Swimming, also with many District and State Championship Meets from all over the Pacific Northwest Region (California to Montana and beyond). He through and through LOVED every minute spent with all of his BOYS hunting for deer in Juntura, elk in Beulah, turkey close to home, camping/fishing with his friends and family at Odell Lake, and salmon fishing with Ron and Tom out of Winchester Bay! John was a strong believer in faith with his unconditional church being within God’s beautiful natural creations…
