Judy Ramirez Obituary

Judy Marie Mariel Ramirez passed away on June 20, 2020 due to natural causes.  She was born on August 20, 1951 in Eugene, Oregon to Preston C. Mariel and Willa J C. Naylor-Mariel.  She grew up in the Tulelake Basin with her five siblings and graduated from Tulelake High School in 1969.  She married Alvin Baumgart and moved to Malin soon after graduation and gave birth to a daughter, Jennifer in 1970.  After their divorce she moved back to Tulelake with her young daughter.  On March 23, 1974 she married Gonzalo R. Ramirez and they added two more daughters to their family, Gloria in 1976 and Sarah in 1981.

Like most families in Tulelake Judy and Gonzalo supported their family by working in various aspects of the agricultural industry.  Judy took a job as an account analyst for the US Fish and Wildlife Department at the Klamath Basin Wildlife Refuge where she worked for 20 years until her retirement.  Her job at the refuge was always a source of joy to Judy because of the abundance of wildlife and bird watching she was able to enjoy.

Judy was active in church and was a devout Christian. She loved the fall and being active during the Tulelake-Butte Valley fair especially when her girls were young and in 4-H raising swine, she even took on the role of swine leader for a number of years.  She also enjoyed collecting stamps and seashells from the summers her and her family would go to Crescent City, California where all of them developed a love for the sea and salt air.

Judy is preceded in death by her mother, WillaJ who died in 1977, father Preston in 2010, sister Betty Hendericks of Etna, CA who passed in 2012, and 3 young nephews.

She is survived by her sisters and spouses, Clourise Fleming, Patricia and Bertil Hansen and Loretta Moore and her brother Preston E. Mariel. Her beloved husband of 46 years, Gonzalo Ramirez. Her daughters and their spouses and family Jennifer and Terry Trump, Teresa, Lisa, Griffin and Alexander Trump and a new Great-Grandaughter, Dakota. Gloria Ramirez and her daughter Victoria Alcala-Ramirez. Sarah Ramirez and her husband Jose Hernandez and children United States Marine LCpl Gonzalo AlcalaRamirez and Estrella Hernandez-Ramirez.

Judy will always be remembered for her love of God, family and her strong sense of community.  She always had a smile and a kind word for everyone she met and touched the lives of everyone who knew her. Her family was her greatest sources of joy on earth.  She is now peacefully in the arms of her heavenly father.
