Karen Wise, 84, passed away on July 17, 2020 at Sky Lakes Medical Center, due to complications after surgery. Karen Wise was born in Omaha, NE on Jan 24, 1936 to Cyrus and Marie (Echternacht) Savage. Karen had three sisters and one brother. Her family moved to Washington during World War II and her parents worked in industries that supported the war effort. She lived most of her life in Washington, graduating from Puyallup High School and Central Washington College of Education (now CWU). She also did graduate work at Oregon State University. At college she met the love of her life, Royal. They were married 64 years this August. Karen worked mostly as a teacher and in retail fabric stores before they moved to Yakima, WA after the children left home. Karen and Royal moved to Oregon in 2000. She was a member of the United Methodist Church and PEO Chapter FF and loved her church family and PEO sisters. Karen enjoyed reading, gardening, cooking, crafting, and embroidery and was a gifted seamstress.
Karen is survived by her two daughters, Janice (Jon) Hicks and Glenda (Paul) Waldburger, and stepson Kim (Wanda) Wise. She also has seven grandchildren, Eric, Chris (deceased), Kari, Ryan, Alex, Nich, and Alicia, and three great-grandchildren, Kensi, Kendall, and Gage. Memorial services will not be held at this time.
