Lauretta Kinnan Obituary

Lauretta LaVaonne (McMahon) Kinnan was born to Stephen and Kathleen (Beadle) McMahon on August 26,1934 at home in their farmhouse in Webster County Iowa, just east of Fort Dodge.

Lauretta attended school in Fort Dodge, graduating from Sacred Heart High School in 1952.  She met Lloyd Kinnan, the love of her life, at the Laramar Dance Hall.  They married September 6, 1952 and were just months short of their 70th anniversary when Lloyd passed in 2022.

In 1969 they move the family to Klamath Falls, Oregon where they purchased Nelson’s TV Radio.  Lauretta was integral to building the success of the business, doing the accounting and helping run the store, all while raising seven children.  The kids will tell you she was always there for them, at every concert, sporting event, or confirmation class, cheering them on from the stands.  Lauretta’s family and her Catholic faith meant everything to her.  She was most proud of continuing a legacy of a faithful through her life.

Lauretta is survived by sons Timothy, David and wife Melanie, Patrick, Matthew and his wife Sheri, and daughters Karen Longacre and Paula Schaner.  She had twelve grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.  She is also survived by her sisters Janice Lindquist, Darlene Hay, brother Gerald McMahon and his wife Lois, brother-in-law Robert Kinnan and sister-in-law Gloricita Kinnan.  Lauretta also had many cousins, nieces, and nephews.

She lost her loving husband Lloyd almost two years ago. She was also preceded in death by son Gregory, her parents, brother Gilbert McMahon, sister Dorothy Schaller, brothers-in-law Delmar Schaller, Dale Lindquist, Lowell Hay, Wayne Kinnan, and son-in-law Harold Lyon.

Lauretta was a light to her family, her church and her community.  She will be sorely missed.
