Leo Porter Obituary

Leo Francis Porter passed away surrounded by family on December 7, 2020. He was 80 years old. He lived a rich, full life.

Leo was born in Burlingame, California, September 23, 1940 to Carol Hanna Dawson and George Joseph Porter. He attended Burlingame High School (class of 1959) and went on to have many careers including as a teacher, publisher, entrepreneur, ranch hand, and in construction and landscape maintenance. More than the jobs he held, Leo lived life to the fullest. He saw the beauty and humanity in every person. He was an avid cook, a storyteller, and could fix just about anything. He spent hours working on old cars, hanging with his dogs, and, every summer he tended a beautiful garden to nourish body and soul.

Leo is survived by his wife Signe Porter; by their children Christina Porter and Christian Krogstad of Washougal, Washington; Sara and Mike Johnson of Napa, California, and their daughter Bella; and Susie Porter and Jerry Root of Salt Lake City, Utah, and their children Charlie and Cecilia Root; and Mat and Jaclyn Prindiville of Klamath Falls, Oregon, and many long time friends in AA.

A viewing will be held in O'Hair and Ward's Funeral Chapel in Klamath Falls on December 11, 2:00-4:00 pm. Leo will be laid to rest at the Fort Klamath Historical Cemetery, surrounded by the fields, winding creek, and majestic mountains that filled his heart with peace.

Leo loved stories and we invite you to share a story or a memory on the tribute wall.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you honor Leo with a donation to your local drug and alcohol treatment center.
