Lois M. Abts

Lois M. Abts was born on December 16, 1926 in Juneau, Alaska and was called home on September 30, 2020.  She was married to Aaron E. Abts (Deceased) in 1945.  Lois was a devoted wife and loving mother of six children:  Michael “Mic” Abts (Deceased), Diane Snyder of Hayden Lake, ID, Edward Abts (Deceased), Patti Shenemen of Coeur d’Aene, ID, James “JD” Abts of Seattle, WA and David Abts of Danville, VA.

While in Alaska, Lois worked as a cartographer (drawing maps) for the forest service and also worked at her father’s Piggly Wiggly grocery store.  Aaron and Lois met at the Piggly Wiggly store while Aaron was stationed in Juneau when he served in the U.S. Army.

After they were married Lois and Aaron ran a Dairy Queen in Anacortes, Washington and then moved to Everett, Washington where Lois worked for the Scott Paper company.  After several years they moved their family to Klamath Falls where Aaron worked for Columbia Forest Products.  While in Klamath Lois was a volunteer for the Woman’s Guild at the local hospital and spent a great deal of her time volunteering at Sacred Heart School and Catholic Church.

Upon their retirement Lois and Aaron moved to Hemet, California and spent time enjoying many friends and golfing.  Lois was a talented artist and was doting grandma to her 10 grandchildren hand crocheting them all birth blankets and multiple other keepsakes.  Lois had quite a few hidden talents also, ping pong and Wii Bowling to name a couple which she enjoyed playing with both her grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.  Lois enjoyed and lived her life to the fullest spending as much time with friends and family as possible.

A Memorial Mass for Lois will take place at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 815 High Street, Klamath Falls, OR on Tuesday October 20, 2020 at 11:00 AM. Due to Covid restrictions all attending the service will be required to wear masks.  In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the Arbor Hospice in Hemet, CA.
