Margaret D. Brown, 80, passed away February 29, 2020 at her home in Klamath Falls, Oregon after battling colon cancer.
Margaret was born in Sioux City, Iowa on January 31, 1940, to George and Evelyn Brown. She moved to Van Nuys, California at the age of 17, where she finished high school and met and married Kent Fluge. They lived in many places over their 40-year marriage, including many years in Klamath Falls, and raised six children. They later divorced.
Margaret was an avid gardener, and grew a large vegetable garden in her younger years. She was also an avid reader, and enjoyed sewing and crocheting. She worked in a bakery and as a cook in a school cafeteria before she found her life-long career as a certified nurse's aide, spending more than 30 years caring for others. She also made the best cheesecakes, which she sold on the side for a little extra cash.
She was preceded in death by her parents and sisters Georgine and Opal, brother Phil, and nephew Georgie. She is survived by her sisters Connie Harris (spouse David) and Marilyn Reed, and brother Larry Brown, and her six children: Mike Fluge, Steve Fluge (Yasuko), Julie Fluge, Lori Fluge-Brunker (Gail), Kelli (Fluge) Santillie (Tracy), and Curtis Fluge (Christina); and six grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, nine nieces and nephews, and many extended family members.
Per her request, there will be no formal service. A private gathering will be held for family at a future date. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Margaret’s memory to Klamath Hospice Care or a charity of your choice.
