Myron Dale Thomas was born August 21, 1964. He passed on October 22, 2023 away surrounded by an amazing family that he built from love and deep connection. Myron was born into a family where he was a brother to five siblings; at the time of his death, his “siblings” were countless. He gained an amazing family of friends by always being present in the moment, and always being willing to lend a hand, a funny joke, or a cold beer (or all three, depending on the situation!)
Myron started building his extended family when he struck out on his own during high school. He would forge a bond with many “brothers” and families as they lent him a hand and a place to stay for a bit. Mike Stiles would remain a lifelong brother. Myron started his own family at a young age with the birth of Christopher, but despite his age, he never wavered from the responsibility of fatherhood. The responsibility of family led him to his lifelong career as a carpenter. While working for a company in Creswell, Oregon, Myron and Tammy would welcome Kendrek to their family as well as welcome both the Heater and Ellison families into their lives. The deep bond they built now extends four generations!
While in Creswell, Myron and Tammy continued to build their extended family. Christopher brought home a friend, Ricky, who would become one of the “boys.” Ricky lived with the family several times over the years. Jason would also join the crew after Christopher and his family returned to Klamath Falls. Myron went out of his way on several occasions to make sure they both knew that they were his kid.
Myron spent several years working for family members, friends, and construction companies before finally striking out on his own and forging a partnership with Jerry Hermes. They completed several projects over the years, and Jerry taught him a lot. Eventually, Christopher (and Kendrek when time allowed) would join the family business.
Spending time with family and friends was Myron’s biggest passion. He taught many nephews how to hunt, fish, and have a good time doing it! He was most passionate about his grandchildren. Alex was the first to arrive on the scene and immediately developed a deep bond with Papa. Brooke would soon join the family and Myron made sure he was the favorite! He hunted, fished, camped, traveled with and loved Alex and Brooke immensely. Soon Cadence would join his cousins, and his Papa would also become a favorite playmate. Myles and Jaxx joined soon after, and Myron found himself being the ultimate Papa, whether it was a fishing trip, a jaunt to Hawaii, or a trip to Disneyland. He was always the best buddy to have around. If you’ve ever heard “Papa’s in the house” from the backdoor while his grandbabies were visiting, then you’ve seen pure joy.
Myron and Tammy built an amazing life together. They found something in each other at a young age, and through life’s ups and downs, they knew they were always meant to be together. Christopher and Kendrek have grown into such incredible men that both their parents are immensely proud of. The family of friends that gravitated toward Myron and Tammy do the same with the boys. They were raised to open their doors to whoever needed help, always extend a hand when they could, and that family extended beyond blood.
Myron’s easy smile, approachable and fun personality, love of life, and deeply rooted bonds of friends and family will live on in everyone who knows him. Our lives were richer for having known him, and hopefully we pass that same unconditional acceptance onto others in our lives in the same way.
