Peggy Lou Jurief was born Peggy Lou Leppert on December 27th, 1943. Peggy passed from this life on October 2nd, 2020 in her birthplace of Klamath Falls, Oregon at the age of 76.
She was born to Margaret and Louie Leppert in Klamath Falls, Oregon. She had three brothers; Joe, Kenny and Butch, two sisters; Shirley and Judy and a stepsister Patty.
Growing up in Klamath Falls, Peggy enjoyed spending her summers swimming in Klamath Lake. A passion she shared with her children and grandchildren, many of whom learned to swim from her.She graduated from Klamath Union High School in 1961. She married Terry Jurief on February 9th, 1963 in Klamath Falls. While still in Klamath Falls, they had their first child, Scott. Shortly after, they moved to San Francisco and worked in a donut shop.
Peggy and Terry eventually moved to Stockton, California, continuing in the donut business there. In Stockton Peggy and Terry had their second child, Kathryn.
In 1980 Peggy and Terry came back to Klamath Falls and started Terry’s Donuts and they became very well-known there for, not only the delicious donuts, but the many other types of food Peggy prepared in the adjacent deli. Due to the success of the business and certainly Peggy’s kindness and hospitality, they became very popular in the community and many people were on a first name basis with Peggy and those familiar folks were always greeted with a smile.
After her retirement from the donut shop, Peggy enjoyed simple and quite hobbies with her family. They would take yearly camping trips up to Campbell Lake to enjoy fishing and outdoors, taking trips to the Oregon Coast to enjoy the calm and serene scenery, going for a drive to the Lava Beds National Forest to watch the wildlife, and even sitting for hours at a card table to put a puzzle together and watch the birds out of her window.
Peggy was known by many around the Klamath Community as a kind a friendly person who hardly met a stranger. She is survived by her three brothers Joe, Kenny and Butch; her two sisters Shirley and Judy; her husband Terry; her daughter Kathryn; her grandchildren Daniel, Christopher, Haley; and five great grandchildren Hagen, McKenzie, Wyatt, Gentry and Luella, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by both of her parents, her stepsister Patty and her son Scott.
