Ralph Dixon, 92, of Bonanza, died Jan. 13, 2023, at his home. His funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 26, at O’Hair-Wards Funeral Chapel, 515 Pine St., in Klamath Falls.
Ralph was born in Klamath Falls on Nov. 7, 1930, to Benson and Alta Dixon. He lived in Merrill for the first 3½ years of his life and then moved to Bonanza.He was educated in the Bonanza schools, graduating in 1949. He attended Southern Oregon College at Ashland for three years.
In 1952, Ralph was inducted into the Army for two years, which included 1½ years overseas in Japan. After leaving the service, he spent the next 10 years farming with his father and working for other farmers in the area. In 1964, he went to work for the Postal Service as a rural mail carrier out of the Bonanza Post Office. He retired in 1999.
In 1966, Ralph married Mary Jo Helbig. She had two boys, Mike and Ron Helbig, ages 8 and 10. Mike died in a car accident in 1982. Ron died in 2018.
Ralph liked to work. He enjoyed spending time with his family, caring for his yard, hiking and climbing. He had a lifelong interest in photography and devoted many hours of service to his community.
Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Mary Jo Dixon of Bonanza; his sister and brother-in-law, Janey and George Simmons of Bonanza; sister-in-law, Donna Dixon of Woodland, Washington; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Julia Ann and Chuck Johnson of Klamath Falls; his grandchildren, Dallas Helbig and Kelli Jo Helbig; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He also was preceded in death by his brother, Homer Dixon, of Woodland, Washington, and his niece, Julia Dixon, of Vancouver, Washington.
