Dick was born September 11, 1942, in Hanford, California, to John and Betty deVries, and passed away September 9, 2023, at his Sprague River home, just two days before his 81st birthday. Growing up, Dick worked on his Family's farm and dairy in Hardwick, California. He married Kay Williams in 1961.
Dick started working for Kings County Road department in 1962 and was employed there for 13 years. He farmed on various ranches, then purchased his own ranch in Laton, California in 1972, where he raised cattle and produced cotton, corn, alfalfa, beans, and barley.
Dick and Kay moved to Sprague River, Oregon in 1995. They raised Angus and Simangus cattle for 27 years, retiring in 2022. They loved the cattle business and took pride in raising quality cows and calves.
Dick is survived by his wife of 62 years, Kay; siblings Billie, John, Gus, and Bob; Son Steven (Dawn), and daughter Kelley (Melvin); six grandchildren: Melvin (Christina), Kyle (Callie), Cody (Christa), Kasey (Nick), Stevie, and Jordan; and fourteen great-grandchildren: Keegan, Ty and Kayden Medeiros, Colby, Maci, Hannah and Harper Medeiros, Addie, Bailey and Nikki Musachia, Anthony, Nicholas, Matthew and Noah Ramos.
At Dick's request, no formal services are planned. O'Hair-Wards Funeral Chapel is assisting in arrangements.
