Romie Jones Obituary

Romie was born to Ed and Nellie Cooper- Jones in LaFayette, GA. He was very proud to have served in the United States Army where he gave eight years and rose to the rank of Staff Sergeant during the Vietnam era. He accompanied a friend home to Oregon on leave in 1963. This turned out to be a momentous turning point in his life, as he was introduced to his friend's sister, Jacqui -- who became the love of his life. They married March 2, 1964. They built a beautiful life together. They had five children. They raised many more. We have tried but can't quite come up with the number of kids who called him Dad or Papa.

Romie spent the majority of his career working at Columbia Plywood, in various positions. He retired after 30 years. He was bored and restless with retirement, so he briefly worked as a railroad Crew Shuttle Service driver and made some lasting friendships there.

He dedicated his life to his family. He was there for us, always. He was a massive influence in not only our lives but countless others. For example: see this Facebook page:

Romie had a fondness for country music, reading western novels, watching old westerns, golfing and home projects. He loved to attend his children's and grandchildren's events more than anything. He was our cheerleader, our provider and our protector.

Romie is survived by his wife of 58 years, Jacqueline "Jacqui" (Chase) Jones. Children, Katherine "Kitsi" (Les) Davis, Teresa "Traci" Jones, Joseph "Jody" (Peggy Sue) Jones, Karie Vonder Hulls and Audie Weiser. Siblings Jim (Sylvia) Jones, Virgil (Sharon) Jones and Jack (Lynda) Jones. Special son of the heart, Timugen "Timmy" Keffer. Multiple grandchildren, Brandon, Camryn, Tana, Shane, Cami, Dalton, Logan, Shayna, Seth, Kaitlyn, Romie, Torren, Denver and Aspen, amongst many other grandchildren of the heart. He has 14 great grandchildren, and one on the way. Many nieces, nephews, cousins and in-laws too numerous to name but all very special and cherished by him.

Romie was preceded in death by his parents. Sons Richard Leon and Corbett "Cory" Jones. Siblings Mary Beringause, Rowland Jones, Troy 'Butch" Jones, Paul Jones, Julie Wallin, Kate (Hannah) Jones, Grace (Hawkins) Jones, Tom Jones, Charlie Jones, and Louise (Hawkins) Jones.

Romie's memorial service will be held on Friday, July 8th, 2022, at 3:00 PM, in Yesterday's Plaza on the corner of Pine and 9th streets in Klamath Falls, Oregon. Please come celebrate his life with us. Bring your memories as we very much want to hear them!
