Sharley Steward Obituary

Sharley Mayre Steward 92, died Thursday June 2019 of natural causes at her residence in Klamath Falls.

Mrs. Steward was born June 27th 1926 in Magrath, Alberta Canada to William and Mabel Norton.  At age 12, Sharley’s family moved to Vancouver, British Colombia.  Her family then moved to Seattle, Washington, and then later moved to Clarkston, Washington, where she graduated from High School in 1944.  On April 12th 1946, in Ordnence, Oregon, Sharley married Albert Charles Steward Jr. who had been honorably discharged from the Navy (World War II) on Christmas Day 1945.  After Sharley’s husband graduated from Barber College in Portland, Oregon in 1948, they moved with their black Cocker Spaniel, named Doc, to Klamath Falls, bought their forever home and both stayed there until their deaths.

Sharley was a loving and devoted wife and mother to 4 children.  She was a stay-at-home mom that made our home the place in the neighborhood where most kids ended-up on the weekends.  Sharley was the bookkeeper for her husband’s business “Al’s Barber Shop” for over 50 years.  She also did day-care for friend’s children throughout the years.

Sharley’s favorite pastimes were:  sewing, knitting, crocheting, reading (esp. history), baking cookies, cakes, and “exceptionally delicious” pies.  She also enjoyed ceramic classes and loved working in the garden.  Year after year, she was room-mother in her childrens grade school classes and she also worked on the Election Board every year.  She was a Brownie and Girl Scout Leader and was also involved in Cub Scouts.  Sharley also took dance lessons with her husband and they loved to go ballroom dancing.  Sharley belonged to a woman’s club called the “Jolly Jill’s” in which she made many lifetime friends.  Sharley was a devoted member of Klamath Falls 1st Ward Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Among her survivors are her (2) sons and daughter-in-laws:  Stephen and Karen Steward of Medford, Oregon; Craig and Michele Steward of Bend, Oregon. Her (2) daughters and son-in-law:  Laurel and Jerry Meeder of Red Bluff, California and daughter Andrea Skeie of Klamath Falls.  Her grandchildren and their spouses:  Cory and Heather Meeder of Reno, Nevada; Tarah and Derrick Vaughn of Sacramento, California; Dori and Joshua Bossard of Medford, Oregon; Colby and Candice Meeder of Chesapeake, Virginia; Tiffany Ludkin of Ann Arbor, Michigan; Sheldon and Blake Stamos of Bend, Oregon; Christine and Tim Mitchell of Longview, Washington and Landon Steward of Bend, Oregon; and (17) great-grandchildren:  Benjamin, Alyssa and Lucas Vaughn; Asher, Liam, Owen and Cadence Ludkin; Matix, London and Beckham Meeder; McKinley, Maksim and Mayleigh Meeder; Aiden, Madison and Zoey Mitchell and Braxton Stamos.
